VALUE
ENGINEERING:
We offer assistance in designing manufacturable components
that meet our customer's needs at the lowest possible cost
and best overall value. IMC has a Mechanical Engineer on
staff.
INTERNET:
IMC has E-mail capabilities; our address is mailto:sales@imcmetals.com.
We receive CAD files for quotation and fabrication on a
regular basis as well as various correspondences from our
customers and vendors.
CAD-CAM:
We utilize two CAD-CAM programs for importing design and
programming solidworks is utilized for importing files,
modifying files, and 3-D design work. Fabriwin is utilized
for importing, and programming our CNC punch. We can import
CADL, IGES, DXF, SAT Solids, STEP and AUTOCAD DWG Files.
IMC is capable of producing SOLID MODELS and generating
color prints.

SHEARING:
Our in-house shear can cut up to.156 thick steel, 52"
long. The back gage has a 25' capacity and holds +/- .010.
LASER
CUTTING:
Amanda Pulsar 2000 watts
PUNCHING:
Our Strippit CNC punches are made in the USA and have proven
to be extremely reliable. The maximum hole size is 3.500
diameter. The maximum thickness is .187. The maximum blank
size without reposition is 60.0 X 50.0. Tonnage is 23 tons,
Hole to hole tolerance is +/- .004. Maximum holes per minute
are 550. The turret holds 28 tools and has three auto index
station.
FIRST
ARTICLE REPORTS:
A first article report will be generated and shipped with
the part that has been inspected when requested by the customer.
TEMPLATES:
IMC does a 100% Inspection on all new and revised parts
and makes a template for future reference. On repeat jobs
we do a 100% inspection on the material and all hole sizes
and a template overlay. All measurements are documented
on a QA. Set-up sheet and approved by management prior to
punching the order.
GRAINING:
Our "Time Saver" graining machine has a 36"
wide by 4" vertical capacity. We stock abrasive belts
ranging from 80 to 180 grit.
FORMING:
IMC has four CNC press brakes. We can form parts up to 96"
long. The maximum tonnage is 88 tons. All of our tooling
is precision ground to +/-.0008, and is heat-treated to
Rockwell 50. Our machines can hold as close as +/- ½
degree on angles and +/- .010 on bends. All production programs
are stored in the machines computer for future runs. Individual
part parameters are also documented on machine set-up sheets,
this assures that we form the parts the same way each run.
We know that consistency equals quality. The set-up sheets
also reduce set-up time and help train other operators.
WELDING:
We have three Miller Syncrowave 250 amp Tig Welder and three
Ultra-Flex 350 Pulse Mig Welder for welding aluminum, steel,
and stainless steel. Our 3 welders have over 25 years of
experience. We have in-house design and fabrication capabilities
for any fixtures that might be required.
SPOT
WELDING:
We have a 100 KVA 3 Phase SCIAKY Spot Welder with Digital
Controller capable of doing Certified Spot Welds, and a
20 KVA Spot welder. We can provide cosmetic welds or high
strength welds as required. If requested by the customer
we will perform destructive tests, and provide test coupons
for evaluation.
WELD
FINISHING:
Often times our customers don't get to see the high quality
welds we do, because they are finished to match near by
bends. We take pride in the weld finishing we do at IMC.
We have several highly skilled finishers that do such a
good job, you would think the joint was formed or molded.
We are currently shipping several hundred welded and finished
parts per month.
HARDWARE
INSERTION:
IMC has four Heager Presses for installing fasteners, one
with an Auto-Feed Unit for high volume jobs. Both have digital
batch counters that count the number of fasteners installed,
and "beep" when the correct number has been installed.
They also count the number of parts completed. We pull hardware
kits as soon as the parts are punched to insure that the
hardware is in stock and reserved for that job. IMC also
uses hardware set-up sheets to insure that we install the
hardware with the same tooling, same pressure, and same
sequence each time.
MACHINING:
This is a new growth area for IMC. We have employees with
machining experience and have recently purchase a vertical
knee mill with power feed and digital readout, an ACCRA
12 x 36 Bench Lathe, and a Kent SGS 1020AHD Fully Automated
Surface Grinder so that we can utilize this experience and
better serve our customer base.
PLATING:
IMC has no short term plans to do plating in-house. We are
all very aware of the environmental concerns associated
with plating. We subcontract plating out on a daily basis
as a service to our customers and plan to continue doing
this unless we begin to have difficulty with pricing, turnaround,
or quality.

PAINTING:
IMC currently subcontracts all liquid painting.
POWDER
COATING:
IMC currently subcontracts all of our powder coating out.
We have researched getting into powder coating within the
next few years as it is environmentally friendly and IMC
is doing a high volume of powder-coated parts.
SILK-SCREEN:
IMC has been doing silk-screening even before we had a shop.
We currently have three silk-screen stations and silk-screen
over 10,000 parts per month. We also have in house silk-screen
burning capabilities and limited capabilities for generating
Artwork. We can do very detailed multi-colored parts.
ADDED
VALUE ASSEMBLY:
This is also a target growth area for IMC. Some examples
of added value assembly on customer parts include machined
parts, soldering, fasteners, plastic components, specialty
fasteners, insulators, Velcro, ground cables, EMI. gaskets,
card guides, rubber feet, decals, connectors, wire ties,
etc. IMC has the experience and resources to manage all
of the above for our customers. We can reduce a Bill of
Material that had 10 part numbers for a buyer to purchase
and manage, to one part number.
EQUIPMENT
MAINTENANCE:
All of IMC equipment is maintained per manufacture's specifications
on a monthly basis, maintenance is recorded in a logbook.
Since our team consists of several highly skilled mechanics
most repairs are done immediately in-house.
MEASURING
TOOLS/SPC.:
All inspection tools are cleaned, calibrated, and certified
by Mobile Precision every six months. Records are traceable
to the NBS. IMC can provide SPC. Printouts generated by
our Mitutoyo DP1-HS that include X Bar and R Charts, bell
curves and Cpk when requested by the customer.
QUALITY
ASSURANCE:
We have listened to our customers over the years and have
developed a quality system that meets our customer's needs,
complies with ISO 9002 standards and is usable by our employees
and vendors. In order to achieve this we hired an expert
in implementing quality systems in high technology companies.
Chris Dillon has taken our goals, vision, customer expectations,
and integrated them with today's advanced quality systems.
We currently have a living quality manual that grows with
our company. All of our employees have been trained on how
to use our quality manual and quality systems. We have procedures,
work instructions, and document control guidelines that
allow us to maintain a 99% plus quality percentage. We believe
that consistent quality is the one thing that will set us
apart form the competition. We will continue to invest in
state of the art quality systems, the best people available
in our industry, and training our employees to be the best
in the industry.
PACKAGING:
We go the extra mile in packaging parts for shipment. We
feel that more is better. It doesn't make much sense to
manufacture class "A" cosmetic parts that are
within +/- .010 tolerance for our customers and have them
arrive damaged during transit. If our customers have special
needs such as "kits" or need help with packaging
engineering, we are ready to provide assistance as required.
SHIPPING:
If the quality assurance buy-offs are not up to specification
or if the cosmetics are questionable, shipping can and will
stop the shipment. If all is not to IMC/customer specification,
the product will not ship. If cosmetics are subjective our
shipping dept. will send a sample to the customer for approval.
When considering the total number of invoices and shipments
we do on a monthly basis the number of errors is less than
.005%.
